Technically empowering women farmers@JEEVIKA Shehore

Ganga Barela is a brave and respectful woman of her village. She lives in sankota with her family. Her family occupation is farming. Her family owns a few acres of land. Her family was facing an economical crisis due to costly chemical cultivation. In farming, the expenditure was more than the income. Due to this reason, her family was very much disturbed and losing interest in farming. Ganga Bhai shared the same problem with Jeevika team. Jeevika team was guiding and giving counselling to go take up vegetable-cultivation as an IGP, following cost effective agriculture practices. After much motivational discussion and support, Ganga Bai decided to start mixed cropping cultivation and also to adopt Bio-fertilizer process. She sowed seed of ladies-finger and tomato in her land with the help of her husband. She worked very hard in the cultivation of crops. With this effort, Ganga got good crops and she is getting good produce of vegetable which is bringing additional income to the family. Her family income has increased to some extent. After all, Ganga Bai is successful because of her hard work. The other members of Santoshi SHG got inspiration from Ganga Bai and have started mixed cropping through Bio fertilizer process.

Result: She is successful in her undertaking.

Challenges: Ganga Bai faced a challenge while following a new practice of using Bio-fertilizer, because she feared that she had no information and technical knowledge in this regard. How to apply in field? If it fails, I will lose even what I have.
