Celebrating International Women’s Day 2013@JEEVIKA Ujjain


The 2013 theme for International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 8 March, is: “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women”

On 11th March 2013 JEEVIKA team of Kripa-Ujjain organized International woman’s day celebration at Kamed Center. The programme was influential with innovative thoughts from Rev. Bishop Mar Sebastian Vadakel Bishop of Ujjain, Mrs. Nishi Singh District Programme Officer Women and child Department, Fr. Sunil George konnackal Director Kripa Social Welfare Society, Mr. chouhan Manager Bank of India Surasa branch. All the special guests were given floral welcome and the program was begun by a prayer song. After the song Rev. Fr. Peter Vattapara the rector of Ruhalaya theology seminary, kamed welcomed the special gusts and other people come from various place. He also explained the programme details and the briefly explained the social work activities of the Ruhalaya theology seminary.

After the welcome Sr. Deepti DST, the CIC in Kamed center briefly explained the one year activity report. In this report she said that at present Kamed center have 112 SHG functioning effectively and total saving of the group is 18800900 rupees. Various welfare activities organized during the reporting period with the help of groups like construction of the road, drinking water facility, health and education problems. In the reporting period Kamed center provided 84 training on different topics like skill development, vocational training guidance, personality development, leadership quality etc.

Training: During last year 84 units of different types of trainings were provided for the group members, training was given for the youth to develop their skills, also classes were given to them related to the vocational guidance, personality development, leadership qualities etc. They to organize following activities for the children like computations on games and culture.To solve the problems of these days like eradication of the malnutrition of the children the group members are helping the people to ask for this from the local government to establish Aganwadi centers.

Achievements/result: It has been notices that where ever there is groups or Kripa welfare society is working there is lot of changes, peoples thinking pattern is changed, life style of the people is changed, they started to save ,there is social, economic, and political ,health and hygiene development is seen in the life of the people.Rev. Fr. Sunil delivered the speech on the occasion of women’s day celebration. He told that each and every woman has to play four types of roll in this world firstly the roll of daughter, sister, wife and mother. These rolls she has to play in the society for the development of the society, and without going through these stages there is no way to develop the society. What ever personality society grants that she has to fulfill than only her life will be completed in this world. He also said the women present there about there right s like right to life, right to develop their personality, right to education, right to participate in the development of the country. But till now the women are not aware of their rights. Thus they have to aware of their rights and act ion it . He also said the need of participating in the gram sabha meeting and aware or collect the knowledge on varies schemes and try to achieve it. As today women’s day is celebrated today all women should take pledge to contribute for the development of the country.

Rukhamabai:Rukhamabai one of the group member shared her experiences to the people. She told to the audience present there how she has reached here, she told that it is because of the group, she got courage to stand and talk, her saving increased, all the works related to money they get from the group as a loan .She told there is lot of changes took place in their life by joining in the groups before they were going to jangle for toilet but at present they made toilet and learned to use it. Rukhamabai is in the group from 15 years and rs 30 thousand is in her dairy.

Mr. Chouhan the bank manager of the surasa:Mr. chouhan started his speech by congratulating the women on the women’s day celebration. He said that from many years on words he knew the groups which are opened by the help of Rs. Deepti the center in charge. He also publicly declared that till now there is no default in the bank .Whomever he has given loan for the group members they return it. He too told the women that they have to realize their strength for coming year and utilize it for good purpose. He said women’s are not the puppets to be played with her. But they are the image of gods Laxmi and Chandi, who can destroy the evils of the world. And with the support of the groups and in the groups women’s have to destroy the evils of the world.

Neeshi sing:Mrs. Neeshi sing the offers of the child welfare committee (CWC).She delivered the speech on the occasion of women’s day celebration .She inspired the women by stories and examples, and made them to realize their power in the society. And fight of all the abuses done against them. Today women and girls are not safe, and cannot go out alone. For all these mothers are responsible, because from the birth onwards mothers are behaving indifferently between boy and girl. She said how mothers behave with the boy child and with the girl child, boys are send to school, girls are not send, boys are given all the freedoms to do but girls have some restrictions. All these gender differences seen by the boys and they feel that they can do whatever they like to do. Thus each mother has the responsibility to bring up children with out gender description. Then only there will be safety for them everywhere. She told the women that they have to fight themselves for their safety because nowadays there are on Ram and Krishna to come and save the women those who are in dingers. Thus each woman has to learn the art to save her selves. She also told the women to keep good relation with their in lows so that there will be peace in the families. She made the women to understand the good qualities of saving money through the stories, and encourage them to join in the groups keep their money in the banks, how they will be safe by using the toilets because money men does not see or feel all the ladies as their mother, sister, and daughter. At the end she told that girls should be send foe study, teach them some skills to stand their own legs.

Bishop Mar. Sebasteen: Bishop gave inspirational massages to the women present there, that both men and women has equal responsibilities for the development of the country. God has granted enough and more strength to the women, that powers should be utilized properly.

All the invited chief guests were gave inspiring and enriching massages to the women on the occasion of women’s day celebration. The women’s from different groups presented varies colorful cultural programmes and made good entertainment to the guests as well as the people came from different villages. At the end there was thanks giving to all very especially to the chief guests all the participants in the programme and also those who conducted the programmes. JEEVIKA : Prabhav Review Meet ( 19th-21st April) @Indore


From 19th-21st April JEEVIKA review meet been organised at Prerena Sadan-Indore. IDSSS-Indore has hosted the meeting and all 7 partner organisation of JEEVIKA along with their directors, accounatnts, Project Coordinators, Field Coordinators and PRI mebers participated in the meeting. First day of the meeting was presentation on 6 momths result acheivements (under JEEVIKA project) and a theme presentations by each team on various aspect such as-Shramdan, central Budget 2013-14, Village Information Center, sustainable agriculture and RTI. 2nd day was field vist to the 3 project vilages where in IDSSS-Indore is working with JEEVIKA project. Field visit includes interaction with PRI members, CBMOs ( Community based & Managed Organisations), meeting with beneficiaries, field visit of organic cultivation and interaction with youth groups ( going through skill development). 3rd day of the meet has focused on knowing 12th five year plan in relation with JEEVIKA project, planning the result for next 6 months,and knowing the concerns and challenges of partners. On 3rd the best two best performing teams for the implementation of JEEVIKA project were also awarded-GCSS-Gwalior come out as the best performing team where as IDSSS-Indore received the 2nd position.
