Do You Believe Unity is Strength. With Jeevika ANWC Bhopal. You will see

This case Study will signify that Farmers Club (Kisan Samhu) is really an example of Unity.

Village Name: Alipur

Name: Rameshar Barela

Farmer's Club Name: Karan farmers club

Work profile: Unity of farmers club and Farmers club members have adopted IGP through animal (buffalo) rearing

Context:

Village Alipur a tribal based village is situated in Block ichhawar District Sehore MP having lack of awerness regarding livelihood alternatives & government scheme and because of high migration for an average of 4-5 month in a year, it was very difficult to survive and worst of all they do not even show interest in cultivation due to lack of resource and highy cost.

Background:- When Jeevika project started, people were not aware about theirs rights while maximum farmers never used to cultivate theirs lands due to regular losses from soyabin crop as well as they also do not take much interest in IGP and animal rearing. In September 2013, Jeevika team started working in Village Alipur with tribal community, Jeevika team interacted with farmers for forming of Farmers Club and it was formed on 10th of April

Impact:When the farmers club was formed with the effort and motivation of the team, various issues were discussed with the farmers. Team shared with the farmers to think on alternative source of livelihood in the form of IGP and cost effective agriculture practices including animal rearing, Sustainable Agriculture Practices and other alternative options of IGP including technical training from KVK Sevaniya with our efforts they got inspired and started taking initiative under various IGP programme and organic farming activities, The actual impact came when Farmers discussed to perform IGP through animal rearing in their monthly meeting on 5th Sep 2014, but the major concern was the source of finance, how they will purchased animals as the Total Budget of Animal rearing farm costed Rs 26000, with the available resource finally they altogether decided that they can start IGP one by one for all Members of Farmers Club by raising contribution from within. They planned out, that each Farmer Club member will support by giving Rs.1000 to one of its member and the first Lucky member was Rameshar Ji.On 16th Sep 2014 each member of Karan Farmer club contributed Rs. 1000/- to Rameshar, which raised to total worth of Rs. 13000. And the best part was 0% interest has to be paid on the amount being raised, and the rest 50% amount Rameshar arranged by its own effort, he purchased a buffalo From Village jamali. Now on an every day basis he is able to take out 4 liter of milk from buffalo, and he sells milk to Ichhawar milk Centre (Dairy), from this effort his family is able to raise an additional income of Rs.120 a day. Now Rameshar is happy and not only his family appreciated Karan Farmers Club effort but also people of Alipur is appreciating, Farmers club and it has became a best example of unity.

Analysis/Results:

1. Farmers understood importance of unity

2. Rameshar is able to adopt an additional source IGP through animal rearing

3. Farmers are learning ways of fund utilization.

4. Rameshar Family's income increased up to Rs.120 a day

5. Self Raised IGP with o% interest rate is an example of its own kind.

6. This will give a bright message and will create a motion to start IGP within.

Jeevika Day Celeberation

It is always said that A Journey of 100 miles starts with 1 step.

We feel privileged to be the part one of the biggest movement involving all the stake hoalders and on this auspicious occasion of completing 2 years it’s better to give a little glimpse on Jeevika and “The Celebration of Jeevika Day”. During these 2 years we all must have often heard a lot about Jeevika with lot of updates through social networking platforms like facebook, blogs etc. But today we will not talk about what we achieved in the project quantitatively but we will share our qualitative achievement and the journey that we took to achieve this much.

At the beginning of the program we started with a slogan:

JEEVIKA is process of change

Let’s bring change together!

Let’s bring change now!

Let’s make Madhya Pradesh My Pradesh with JEEVIKA project!

This project was initiated in 104 villages of 11 blocks of 7 districts of Madhya Pradesh. It covered almost all the parts of Madhya Pradesh, the program worked from formation of SHGs, Farmers Club to managing, coordinating, empowering and linking them to GOs (Government Organizations). Or tackling issues from village level like Job card, Adhar Card to national issues like food security, unemployment etc. But what did jeevika really achieved? It’s a big question; We believe the major achievement of Jeevika is its community. Jeevika is successes full because community has trust on us and they understand that we have come for their betterment.

Jeevika Day Celebration became a national event for Caritas India as community owns this day. It started from success sharing by Caritas India ED, to Community meeting in Indore, to tree plantation in khandwa, to women singing local jeevika song in shehore and many more. But does these ends here, no its just the beginning a very famous dialogue I remember “Picture Abhi Baki hai Mere Dost”. Still lot of things has to be done and this process of change will be continued.
