Enabling of physically disabled towards new horizon of bright future…….@JEEVIKA Ujjain

One of the new initiatives taken by the Jeevika Ujjain is formation of group for the disabled people. Staff members knitted a networked with the ADEO of Ujjain Janpad Mr. Kushwah and got the information about various schemes and provisions for this type of disabled community. According to the information given by ADEO, we can form a disabled members group of minimum 5 members. And through the group, they will be provided benefits and approval by Zila panchayat to start subsidize loan up to 50% which conducive to get or establish their own IGP units. So the staff met those disabled people personally and convinced them. With this aim groups were formed in two villages namely Baskehdi and Bodani. The name of this group is (Sankalp SHG, Baskhedi) (Vishwas SHG Bodani). They started Rs.100/- per month as individual saving.

Jeevika Impact Assessment at project villages@Jhabua

After one year completion of jeevika project, we have decided to conduct a impact assessment of jeevika project at 14 project villages. We followed following strategy for it:

Introduction of Jeevika Patal@JEEVIKA Jhabua

In project villages, it has been found that most of the farmers or community members can’t attend our all meetings, due to their personal commitments, which make them unaware about various useful information and lead them nowhere. Also very few people own TV or radio, having electricity problems, which cut-off them completely from outer world. To solve this social problem, we came up with the idea of Jeevika Patal, so that people can read useful information at Patal and take benefit from it.

Jeevika Patals have been introduced, at 5 project villages, as a communication tool. We are planning to establish it, at all 14 project villages. It will be utilized as all communication purpose, related to Jeevika activities, government schemes, PRI information cum announcements, employment news and other important activities.

Jeevika staff has been told to promote Jeevika Patal, as much as possible. We are planning to promote it at all levels, including community, government departments, PRIs, schools and other institutions. Project Coordinator Vishwa Raj Singh told to link all Jeevika Communication Platforms (VIC, MNREGA Pathshala and Jeevika Patal), so that when people know about one platform, he also become interested in other platforms and reap complete benefits from social activities. It has been promoted like a important place, so that villagers become habitual to come there, daily.

We are planning to make Jeevika Patals at each faliya of each project village. We are very careful about the location of Jeevika Patals. It has been already instructed to place Jeevika Patal at visible and crowded area, in faliya/village. It is a start for complete social mobilization, let us see when community understand its importance and become habitual of it.
