A big change has been realized at Jeevika project areas after farmers’ fest,
where we saw farmers have started to take leadership. This time leadership is not for highly technical issues,
which were out of their reach. This leadership was for sustaining their own cultural biodiversity,
sustaining organic pattern of their whole agricultural system.
After farmers fest,
farmers took meetings at each ward of every villages and spread the words of sustainability.
After these meetings they organized block level meeting of Jeevika farmers at Bada Julwaniya’s farmers farm, named Raichand Bhuriya, in which they discussed their further strategy for promoting organic and more sustainable traditional/local seed farming. This meeting had been organized at 31st May, 2014, in which farmers of 18 villages have been participated. Main topic of discussion was to promote local varieties,
strengthening farmer led seed bank, promotion of organic culture and increasing consumption of self-grown nutritious food,
so that dependency on market can be reduce
